On May 17, 2019, the winners of the Republican Olympiad on Informatics among high school students jointly organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communication and High Technologies, Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Education and the Institute of Information Technology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences were awarded in the event dedicated to “17 May - World Telecommunication and Information Society Day”.
It should be noted that the semifinals of the Olympiad were held at the Baku Engineering University on April 27, 2019, and 69 teams from 24 universities (3 students in each team) participated in the semifinals. One team of 17 higher educational institutions was eligible to participate in the final round.
The final stage was held on May 4, 2019 at the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS.
The Olympiad was held on the rules of international ACM / ICPC (International Olympiad on Informatics among high school students). According to the results of the final stage, BEU Programmers team of Baku Engineering University (Ulvi Aslanli, Ayyub Najafzade, Nicad Huseynov, team leader - Etibar Seyidzadeh) was awarded 1st place. 2nd place was taken by “MSU_BAKU_3 team of Baku branch of M.V.Lomonosov Moscow State University, 3rd place- “ADA-Firi-J” team of ADA University, and 4th place- “ADNSU 1” team of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University.
Winners (I-IV places) have been awarded with Honorary Awards and Honors by the Azercell operator and BestComp Group, as well as by the Ministry of Transport, Communication and High Technologies.
Moreover, "NAA3" team of the National Aviation Academy, "DIA-1"team of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, BHOS2 team of Baku Higher Oil School and "BSU1" team of the Baku State University were awarded the Certificate of Excellence.
Ali Hasanov, Rauf Suleymanli and Kamil Ahmadov, staff members of Baku Engineering University, were awarded by the Ministry of Transport, Communication and High Technologies for technical support of the semi-final and final stages of the Olympiad.
