BEU represented at the first meeting of the "CAMPAIGNers" HORIZON 2020 project

The University participates as a partner in the project implemented within the framework of the European Union program 

 

Employees of Baku Engineering University (BEU) have taken part in the first meeting of the HORIZON 2020 project “Citizens acting Acting on Mitigation Pathways through Active Implementation of a Goal-setting Network” (CAMPAIGNers)”. BEU won the right to participate in the HORIZON 2020 program funded by the European Union abd BEU won in 2020 under the leadership of the Energy Institute at “Johannes Kepler University” in Austria.

On the first day of the meeting (June 7-8, 2021), project manager Dr. Johannes Reichl presented the project's implementation plan for 36 months, goals and objectives.

The event was also attended by Parviz Hasanov, Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering of BEU, Isa Gasimov, Associate Professor and Local Project Coordinator of BMU, Arif Najimov, Head of international Relations and Project Management Department and chief specialist of the department, Narmin Alakbarova, Senior Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering, Orkhan Huseynov and Asmar Hashimli, an employee of the Innovative Technologies in Education (ITE) Center, which is a partner of the company. Representatives of universities, companies, municipalities and public organizations from 14 foreign countries (Turkey, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, France, Finland, Greece, Italy, Ireland, South Africa, Lithuania and Peru) also attended the meeting as partners.

A.Najimov provided information about BEU and its international relations, ongoing projects and activities to be carried out in accordance with the work plan in the current project.

I.Gasimov stressed the importance of BEU's participation in the project as a partner. He added that they addressed an official letter to 3 organizations operating in Azerbaijan (ANAS Central Library of Science, Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park and Ekol Engineering Services CJSC) and were interested in cooperating within the project.

Then representatives of other countries made presentations.

On the second day of the meeting, the project's administrative and action plans for 36 months were discussed. Reports of employees of companies, municipalities and public organizations that would participate in the project as partners were also heard.

The meeting ended with answering the questions of the participants.

It should be noted that the project, which began in May 2021, aims to contribute to solving the problems caused by climate change in humans, affecting them and human-centered. Under the current project, barriers to change in people's lifestyles will be identified through research methods and analysis, and new lifestyle patterns will be identified and tested with innovative solutions. A mobile application called CAMPAIGNers will be developed to disseminate and use the results in the community.

In addition, the impact of lifestyle changes on greenhouse gases and the region's energy and economy will be examined using modeling tools used by the European Union. Once the mobile application is developed, people from around the world will be involved in the process. Using this application, people will be able to change their lifestyle based on the tasks assigned to them. The results of this change will be collected as information, as well as used as a means of motivation for people in other parts of the world. During the project, 15 million residents of 16 cities on 5 continents will use this mobile application to encourage the participation of other people.
