BEU rector attends World Academic Summit

Under the leadership of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education (EATDA), 8 advanced higher education institutions of Azerbaijan have been represented at the World Academic Summit organized by the prestigious international rating agency Times Higher Education (THE) at Manchester University in England.

At the international event, which brought together leading scientists, politicians and industry representatives, EATDA director Ulkar Sattarova, Baku State University (BSU) rector Elchin Babayev, Baku Engineering University (BEU) rector Yagub Piriyev, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) deputy rector Vazeh Askarov, as well as representatives of other higher education institutions participated.

The summit focused on how higher education institutions can respond to global challenges, support innovation and create positive social conditions. More than 500 participants from more than 50 countries discussed the rapidly changing role of universities in panels and interactive seminars.

The director of EATDA Ulkar Sattarova, and the rector of BSU Elchin Babayev acted as speakers in the panel session dedicated to science and higher education of Azerbaijan, moderated by Dankn Ross, the general director for data of THE. In her speech, the head of EATDA emphasized the issues of internationalization of science and higher education in Azerbaijan, informed about strategic goals in the relevant field, integration of science and higher education, implementation of state programs, scholarship opportunities for foreign students. Representatives from Canada, Germany, Romania, Slovakia, China, South Africa and other countries attended the panel session.

Within the framework of the summit, the results of "The ranking of the best universities in the world" were also announced. For the first time, Azerbaijan entered the global ranking with 2 higher educational institutions (BSU and ASOIU).
