At the initiative of the Architecture and Design Department of Baku Engineering University (BEU), a meeting has been held with the parents of first-year students majoring in Architecture, Urban Planning and Design.

The meeting aimed to get acquainted with the University, discuss certain issues, as well as to further strengthen cooperation between teachers and parents.

A video was demonstrated about the department’s activity at the event moderated by Azer Abbasov, a research assistant at the Department of Architecture and Design, and Mehin Shukurova, a first-year Design student.

In his opening speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Construction, assoc.prof. Afar Alifov noted that such meetings with parents were traditionally held, but postponed for some time due to the current pandemic. Giving information about himself, the Dean emphasized that the development of the Architecture and Design Department was associated with the name of honored architect, Professor Sabir Orujov and added that he implemented hundreds of construction projects in our country. Underlining the transparency of the education system at the University and the work of highly qualified academic staff, A.Alifov also touched upon student-teacher relations.

The Head of the Department Sabir Orujov noted that BEU was established by the Order of President Ilham Aliyev dated November 8, 2016 to conduct the training specialists capable of organizing production processes and working with innovative technologies in existing science-based industrial enterprises more necessary. Highlighing the importance of effective organization of parent-teacher relations, S.Orujov added it would play an important role in the future lives of students.

The event continued with speeches by assoc.prof. Vagif Mammadov, senior teacher, PhD. in Art History Arzu Mammadova, teachers Agil Kazimov and Zarifa Alikhanova. The speeches touched upon that the students were active and diligent, and various exhibitions of their handicrafts were organized.

By noting his interest in Architecture since childhood, Ilkin Guluzadeh, a final year student at the Faculty of Architecture and Construction, spoke about his acquaintance with BEU during a school excursion. He also mentioned that this acquaintance later played a role in his choice of the University.

 Speaking at the event, the parents expressed their satisfaction with BEU, the high level of education here, as well as the teachers' caring attitude towards students.

After the meeting, the parents got acquainted with the creative work of the students.
