BEU employees visit Austria as part of CAMPAIGNers project

Employees of Baku Engineering University (BEU) have visited Linz, Austria as part of the CAMPAIGNers international project based on the HORIZON 2020 program. BEU was represented at the first Assembly of the project by Isa Gasimov, associate professor of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Etibar Gahramanov, lecturer of the Department.

The event, attended by all partners of the project covering 2022-2024, presented the work done so far, research and results, and discussed the next steps. The initial version of the mobile application developed within the project was also tested by the participants and views were exchanged on opportunities to improve it.

The Assembly was important for the successful continuation of the project. Thus, the opportunity for all partners to meet in the traditional way (so far, meetings and discussions were organized remotely due to pandemic conditions), as well as the discussions in various working groups increased productivity in the project.

Currently, research and organizational work is being successfully continued within the project. BEU (under the HORIZON 2020 program), which participates as a partner in a project funded by the European Union and coordinated by The Energy Institute at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria, is actively involved in research. Hence, BEU representatives participate in team work, as well as collect and analyze relevant information about Baku city. The next survey will be conducted in the coming days as part of the research

Of note, other project partners (28 partners in total) are universities, companies, municipalities and public organizations from 14 foreign countries (Turkey, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, France, Finland, Greece, Italy, Ireland, South Africa, Lithuania and Peru).

“CAMPAİGNers” project aims to contribute to solving the problems caused by climate change in humans, affecting them and human-centered.  Under the current project, barriers to change in people's lifestyles will be identified through research methods and analysis, and new lifestyle patterns will be identified and tested with innovative solutions. A mobile application called CAMPAIGNers will be developed to disseminate and use the results in the community. Moreover, the impact of lifestyle changes on greenhouse gases and the region's energy and economy will be examined using modeling tools used by the European Union. Once the mobile application is developed, people from around the world will be involved in the process. Using this application, people will be able to change their lifestyle based on the tasks assigned to them. The results of this change will be collected as information, as well as used as a means of motivation for people in other parts of the world. During the project, 15 million residents of 16 cities on 5 continents will use this mobile application to encourage the participation of other people.
