BEU and Climate Change Response Program sign agreement

An agreement has been signed between Baku Engineering University (BEU) and the Climate Change Response Program

The document on "Establishing a partnership to respond to the global climate crisis" was signed by Yagub Piriyev, rector of BEU, and Jungho Kim, head of the Climate Change Response Program, professor of Inha University of the Republic of Korea.

Touching upon the history of relations between South Korea and Azerbaijan, Rector of BEU Yagub Piriyev emphasized that the relations established by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev are being successfully continued in all fields. He noted that in recent years, cooperation has been strengthened, especially in the field of education. The rector pointed to the dual diploma program between BEU and Inha University of the Republic of Korea as an example, adding that the program makes important contributions to the training of highly qualified engineering personnel.

The Rector pointed out that next month the session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) will be held in Baku, drawing attention to the effective activities of our country in the direction of global climate change. Moreover, Y.Piriyev mentioned the importance of the agreement on "Establishing a partnership to respond to the global climate crisis" in this regard.

The head of the Group Jungho Kim expressed his satisfaction with the close relations of his country and the university he represented with Azerbaijan. The guest talked extensively about the joint steps to be taken in the direction of global climate change within the framework of the agreement, the projects to be implemented, noting that this project is implemented in about 10 countries in addition to Azerbaijan. It was reported that within the framework of the agreement, students selected from a number of universities along with BEU will be involved in courses on topics related to climate change. Furthermore, a corresponding number of students will visit Korea.

In addition, both universities plan to develop joint educational programs and organize trainings to strengthen the climate crisis campaign.

The meeting ended with an exchange of views on specific directions of future cooperation.
